You can either play with bits or atoms, or you can play with both.

The winners will be those who combine the bits and atoms, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, etc.

Those who play only with atoms will eventually hand over all their wealth to those who combine the two.

We are going to witness the most significant wealth transfer that ever happened. NFTs and fractional ownerships are proof that the digital transition and wealth transfer from atoms to bits will only accelerate.

So I had predicted the Elon musk will overtake Jeff Bezos, it has happened but the lead will so so wide in the future that Jeff Bezos would not be able to catch up.

Here is my reasoning.

Jeff Bezos’s wealth is mostly due to the fact that he cleverly combined a low margin – high atoms low bits e-commerce business with a low atoms high bits business (AWS) and presented it as one, it is like a gorilla floating on a lifebouy.

People see a large gorilla that can float, but if you separate the two businesses, he will no longer be the richest man, in fact, will go far down the list.

Elon Musk, on the other hand, is going to own the largest network of telecommunication satellites and that is low atoms and high bits and the autonomous cars will also end up being more about bits than atoms.

My guess is the constellation of satellites will even have its own country code and will have crypto as its currency and will replace the function of every Cyprus, Monaco, like low tax regimes in the world.

You could have a company registered in the sky, transacting in cryptocurrencies not falling under any jurisdiction.

So for me, the clear winner is Elon Musk in the long run.

Who will be the next richest man in the world after elon – he or she will definitely be operating in the blockchain and combining atoms and bits – more bits than atoms.

The next one after that will deal only in bits almost 0 atoms.
